Telephoto lenses pull distant subjects closer and compress the scene — useful for sports, wildlife, portraits, and any shot where you can’t (or shouldn’t) step in.

Fast apertures (f/2.8, f/1.8) help in low light and blur backgrounds; slower, longer zooms trade speed for millimeters and price.
