Best f/1.4 Lenses
f/1.4 is the sweet spot for fast primes: a lot of light, strong background blur, and usually a more practical size and price than f/1.2. It’s the aperture people buy for portraits, indoor events, and night street work.
Our f/1.4 collection currently features the Sigma 56mm prime for Sony E-mount, an APS-C portrait lens (about 84mm equivalent on full-frame terms) with autofocus and the compact DC DN build. On Sony crop bodies it behaves like a short tele: flattering for people, tight enough to isolate a subject, still usable as a walk-around when the light drops.
Wide-open shooting means a thin focus plane — eyes need to be sharp, and a stop down to f/2 or f/2.8 is there when you want more of the face in focus. Confirm the mount; this Sigma is Sony E (APS-C). If you need even more blur, see f/1.2. If you want similar speed for less, see f/1.8.
