Best 70–135mm Lenses

70–135mm is short-telephoto territory: portraits, events, details from a few steps back, and the front half of a 70-200mm zoom. Faces look natural, backgrounds fall away, and you don’t have to stand in someone’s space.

Our 70–135mm collection is built around that range. Canon options include the EF 70-200mm f/4 USM, RF 70-200mm f/2.8, and compact RF 70-200mm L. On Sony, Tamron’s 70-180mm f/2.8 G2 covers the same job. Fixed lenses in the middle of the range include the Panasonic 85mm f/1.8 and Nikon Z 105mm macro — portrait and close-up tools that live at a single flattering length. The Canon 75-300mm starts here and keeps going; the Tamron 17-70mm only reaches 70mm at the long end.

f/2.8 zooms handle dim receptions and indoor sports better. f/4 70-200s stay lighter for travel. An 85mm or 105mm prime is simpler and often sharper if you don’t need the extra zoom. Confirm mount first.
